Key Terms & Conditions for Spectacle Purchase
1. Prescription and Customer Responsibility
1.1 Valid Prescription Required
By placing an order for prescription spectacles, you confirm that:
a) You are 16 years of age or older;
b) You possess a valid prescription issued by a qualified Ophthalmic Practitioner, Optometrist, or Medical Doctor;
c) This prescription was issued within the last two years (or one year if you are aged 70 or over), as per best practice guidelines.
1.2 Prescription Accuracy
You are solely responsible for ensuring that the prescription details (including Sphere, Cylinder, Axis, Add, and Pupillary Distance (PD)) you enter into our system are accurate, complete, and match your current, valid prescription.
1.3 Disclaimer on Prescription Errors
We are responsible for manufacturing the spectacles according to the exact prescription details you provide. We are not responsible for errors in vision correction if those errors are due to incorrect prescription data provided by you or due to an expired prescription.
2. Pupillary Distance (PD)
2.1 PD Submission
You must provide a Pupillary Distance (PD) measurement when ordering. If you use our online PD measurement tool, you accept that this is an estimation based on your input.
2.2 PD Responsibility
You acknowledge that the accurate PD is crucial for the successful dispensing of your lenses. If you choose to submit an estimated PD or a PD measured by yourself, you accept the risk associated with its accuracy.
3. Dispensing Optician Oversight
3.1 Professional Review
All prescription orders placed through our website are reviewed by our registered Dispensing Optician or qualified staff members before manufacturing commences. This review is to check for common errors (e.g., incorrect input conventions) and ensure the submitted prescription is within our standard manufacturing parameters.
3.2 Contact for Queries
If our Dispensing Optician has any concerns regarding the validity, suitability, or safety of your prescription details or frame choice, we reserve the right to contact you or the issuer of your prescription for clarification. We may place the order on hold until these queries are resolved.
3.3 Right to Refuse Dispensing
We reserve the right to refuse to dispense spectacles if:
a) We believe the prescription may be incorrect, inappropriate, or harmful to your vision;
b) The requested lenses or frame are incompatible with the submitted prescription parameters (e.g., high-power lenses in a large frame). In such cases, we will inform you immediately and issue a full refund.
4. Special Category Data (Health Data) Consent
By submitting your prescription details, you explicitly consent to Little Niches, trading as The Snooker Room, processing this Special Category Data (Health Data) solely for the purposes of:
a) Reviewing your order by our dispensing optician;
b) Manufacturing your spectacles;
c) Retaining records for the necessary regulatory period (see Privacy Policy).
5. Returns and Guarantee (Prescription Eyewear)
5.1 Fit and Comfort Guarantee
If you experience fitting issues or discomfort with your spectacles, you must notify us within 5 days of receipt. We will work with you, which may include requesting a re-check of your prescription by your Optometrist, to resolve the issue.
5.2 Corrective Action
If the discomfort is found to be due to a manufacturing error on our part, we will, at our expense, remake the lenses according to the original prescription details.
5.3 Customer-Inputted Error
If the issue is confirmed to be due to an inaccurate or expired prescription provided by you, we reserve the right to charge you for the cost of replacement lenses and any associated shipping.
